Fantasy creature eating.

Honestly I've always had a problem with painting in wet media, I think this may be my only truely succesful (non pastel) painting. I have to work on that.

Life drawing at Laafa on Friday night, it's rare that I get the chance to sit for a single life drawing pose that lasts for more than 20 minutes. It's a shame I think I'd like to do this more often.

Self portraits.

Isn't it interesting how many begining drawing classes have you do a self portrait at the start of the semester? Self portraits are always fun an they're a great way to see how someone feels about themselves, and they're always good for a laugh.

This one was done in July 2004 when I took a Summer class at my community college. The pictures were all put up and the instructor turned it into a game to see if we could guess who was who. I was the only black dude in the class so needless to say nobody strained their brain trying to pick me out.

This is one of my favorite pictures because I really played around with weird expressions. I figured that if I had to look at myself for several hours (as was required by the teacher) I might as well have fun with it.

Rat in cage.

A litte sketch I did while at the pet shop the other day. I figured it would be a good demo for my illustration portfolio. Maybe to much Pixar in my system, then again anthropomorphic rodents are commen in folktales and kids books.

A little experiment I did on ripped out construction paper. Torn edges and all.

Panther as 18th century aristocrat (or cat sometimes I like a good pun.)

One of my favorite toys from my childhood. My stuffed Koala bear which I got when I was really young. I really enjoyed doing this still life because it made me feel like a kid again.
